Plot Summary
Best friends and roommates Lillian Wallace and Audrey Green work in the entertainment industry, Lillian a playwright and Audrey an actor. They have a burgeoning business writing and performing two person corporate demonstrations, what are live equivalents of educational films, these gigs which have proverbially paid the bills of late. Both have somewhat resigned themselves to failure in other aspects of their career. While Audrey still goes primarily to open auditions in being ignored by her agent Peter Fielding, she is certain she won't get the part, whatever it is, despite working herself up being confident in her craft. Diagnosed as clinically anxious, she, in turn, gets what little fulfillment in life by a series of one-night stands. Conversely, Lillian now places all her energies on these corporate gigs, as creatively unfulfilling as they may be in being beholden to their clients. In they being offered what is their biggest corporate gig to date, a maximum seven minute sketch on leadership in front of an audience of three hundred at a seminar, the lead up to that gig is presented individually from each of their perspectives. Both stories expose the codependent nature of their relationship.—Huggo
