When former journalist Martin Sixsmith (Steve Coogan) is dismissed from the Labour Party in disgrace, he is at a loss as to what do. That changes when a young Irish woman approaches him about a story of her mother, Philomena Lee (Dame Judi Dench), who had her son taken away when she was a teenage inmate of a Catholic convent. Martin arranges a magazine assignment about her search for him that eventually leads to America. Along the way, Martin and Philomena discover as much about each other as about her son's fate. Matt King's family has lived in Hawaii for generations. His extended family - namely he and his many cousins - own 25,000 acres of undeveloped land on Kauai held in trust, which ends in seven years. The easiest thing for the family to do is sell the land before the seven years is up, which is all the talk in the state, as, to whom they sell the property could very well change the face of Kauai. Despite the vast wealth that comes with the land, Matt has decided to live solely on what he earns as a Honolulu lawyer. However, Matt has not had a perfect life living in Hawaiian paradise as many believe. He and his wife Elizabeth were having problems in their marriage. She recently got into a boating accident which has placed her in a coma. Their seventeen year old daughter Alex is in boarding school on the big island since they couldn't handle her rebellion, which was made all the worse by an argument of an unknown nature between mother and daughter during Alex's last visit home. And their ten year old daughter Scottie is starting to act out, which Matt doesn't know if he can handle, potentially raising her on his own. Matt decides to bring Alex home upon news that Elizabeth is brain dead, and that she will be pulled off life support. But revelations about Elizabeth and Alex's argument, which is tied indirectly to the issue of the land sale, leads to some decisions on Matt's part about what is best for him in both mourning Elizabeth's death and what is the best thing to do about the land, the two decisions which may be incompatible.—Huggo

Anna is an assassin raised by Moody after he discovered her in the aftermath of a massacre in Da Nang, where she killed four men who had kidnapped her and murdered her family. For years, they traversed the globe and completed high-profile contracts-settling in England where she runs a rare-book store and he lives in a manor house.[2] She first encounters Rembrandt in her store when he comes in on the pretext of buying a gift.At present, Anna and Moody kill a Romanian mafia boss by taking his son hostage and using him as a bait. After Moody is brutally killed, Anna decides to seek vengeance. She believes that their last assassination target, Edward Hayes is involved. She therefore decides to track him down in Vietnam. While there she learns of Vohl -- Edward Hayes' assistant. She sets a meeting with Vohl, but Duquet kills him, preventing Vohl from divulging any information to Anna. Anna attacks Duquet, and is captured after a chase. Duquet tortures her to see why she is after Edward's son. Rembrandt visits Anna in the cell and says that he, like Duquet, works for the same person, but says that his methods are apart from them and he was not involved with the shooting in the library. After Duquet leaves the gang goes to her cell and tries to hang her, but she defeats them and escapes. Rembrandt blames Duquet and his harsh methods for her escape.After a dinner date between Rembrandt and Anna, Rembrandt gets into a street fight with local thugs hired by Duquet but survives. Meanwhile, Anna kills Duquet. Rembrandt arrives and sees Duquet was hung. Unaware of Anna, she ambushes him and fights with him, but in the end, they decide to have sex. While walking in the street, Anna is shot by one of Edward's men but is rescued by Moody, who appears to be alive. Moody reveals to her that he faked his death by disguising his attempted killer as himself and shot his attacker in the face so that he could not be identified.Edward holds a banquet and takes extreme precautions to prevent any intrusion. Anna disguises herself as a waitress, and when she tries to assassinate Edward is detected and hampered by Rembrandt. Anna escapes during the ensuing chaos, but Rembrandt follows her. Moody meanwhile infiltrates Edward's safe-house bunker. Edward reveals that he faked his death to protect his son but Moody is not persuaded because of his misdeed. Anna escapes the banquet after Moody detonates a bomb, killing both himself and Edward.In a flashback, Anna witnesses her mother beheading, and is captured and taken by a gang to the location shown at the beginning of the film. The gang's leader assembles one of two disassembled pistols lying on a table while young Anna watches, memorizing the steps. The mob leader briefly leaves the room. When he returns Anna kills the entire mob after assembling the second pistol.The film returns to Rembrandt, who receives a text message from Anna. He goes to the coordinates given in the text message, and finds Anna. They aim their guns at each other and two shots are heard; Anna can be seen leaving the place.

March 31, 1889 - Gustave Eiffel (Romain Duris) sits in his office, atop the newly completed thousand-foot (300-meter) iron tower he has designed and constructed - the Eiffel Tower.September 1886 - Eiffel receives an award for his ground breaking design for an iron skeleton to support the Statue of Liberty. He is made an honorary citizen of the USA in recognition for his achievements. Claire (Armande Boulanger) Gustave's daughter. Gustave's wife is dead and Claire wants to marry the young kid who is working in Gustave's office.
Afterward, he considers what his next construction should be, for the 1889 World's Fair in Paris. Two of his employees, Maurice Koechlin (Jérémy Lopez) and Émile Nouguier (Damien Zanoly), propose a 200-meter (656-foot) steel tower, but he turns down their proposal, favoring a Metro system for Paris. In order to get publicity for his enterprise, he contacts an old friend, journalist Antoine De Restac (Pierre Deladonchamps). At a society party, Eiffel meets Restac's wife, Adrienne (Emma Mackey). They have a strange, instant connection. Transfixed by her (& her challenge to build something audacious for Paris), Eiffel suddenly announces he will build a 300-meter steel tower, shocking the other guests.
It is clear that there is a history between Gustave and Adrienne.Bordeaux, 1860 - While building an iron bridge over the treacherous River Garonne, Eiffel dives in to rescue a construction worker who fell into the river. Eiffel demands wood for safety scaffolding from his superiors, but his request is turned down. Eiffel goes to Bourgès, a wealthy local businessman, to ask for the wood. Eiffel meets Adrienne, Bourgès' headstrong daughter. Impressed by having secretly witnessed Eiffel's heroism on the bridge, she speaks up in defense of his request for the wood and secures it for him.
Adrienne invites Eiffel to her birthday party. At the party, he is awkward, but she finds his aloofness attractive. He kisses her, then storms off, embarrassed. She shows up later at his office, saying she's attracted to him. Eiffel doesn't believe her and sends her away, so she throws herself into the river, to spite him. He rescues her and they make love and begin a passionate affair1886 - Eiffel presents his plans for the tower to the judges for the competition. There are some concerns if the ground is too soft for this mammoth structure, but Gustave presents a new technique to provide a foundation for the tower near the riverbed. He explains how the tower will be built and the fact that it is wind resistant and impervious to lightening strikes.
At the ceremony to announce the winner, as his name is announced, Eiffel and Adrienne instinctively hold hands. Restac sees this. Eiffel begins construction of the tower. At a garden party, he dances with Adrienne and asks her to meet him at a cheap hotel in the country. She refuses. As construction continues, the workers threaten to strike.
Adrienne realizes Restac has become suspicious of her. She searches his things and finds a cartoon belittling Eiffel's tower. Out of jealousy, Restac is using his position as a top journalist to sabotage public opinion against the tower. Restac subtly warns Eiffel about this. With uncertainty clouding the whole undertaking, the workers at the tower go on strike.
Bordeaux, 1860 - Eiffel learns Adrienne has left town and runs to her house, where her father tells Eiffel she was just stringing him along, and that she never wants to see him again.1886 - Adrienne shows up at the cheap hotel. She reveals to Eiffel that the reason she left him 30 years ago was that she was pregnant with his child, and her parents forbade her to marry Eiffel, or ever see him again. She raced from the house to be with him, but as she tried to escape over the fence, she fell and was impaled on a spike, losing the baby and almost dying. Eiffel realizes Adrienne has always loved him and they make love.
When the banks threaten to pull funding for the tower, Eiffel finances the tower with his own fortune. Seeing Eiffel is betting everything on the tower, the workers cease their strike. Gustave is a master engineer and uses an ingenious system of sand and air based hydraulics to ensure that the 4 pillars of the tower align at the first level.
Adrienne visits the completed first level and she and Eiffel kiss above the rooftops of Paris.Restac, who married Adrienne and nursed her back to health after her family abandoned her, is aware of her affair with Eiffel. He tells her he will ruin Eiffel's reputation and destroy the tower's chances of completion if she doesn't end the affair. Adrienne tells Eiffel she has agreed to leave the city with Restac, to protect Eiffel and his tower.Furious and powerless, Eiffel, orders the tower's construction to be completed with rivets instead of bolts, so it can never be torn down. He pushes his team to exhaustion and finishes the tower in time for the World's Fair.
At the grand opening, Eiffel sees Adrienne in the crowd. After they briefly make eye contact, she leaves, knowing she has sacrificed everything so his masterpiece can be completed.
Returning to the opening scene, Eiffel writes in his journal in his office atop the tower. He sketches atop a diagram of the tower, adding letters beside it, to form the name Adrienne. It suddenly becomes apparent that the tower is in the shape of the capital letter "A". Eiffel has made the tower a permanent monument to their love. He walks out and surveys the city, which sprawls beneath him.
